The comic opera Melania: The Opera, centered on the figure of the Melania Trump, will premiere next September 25 at the Cockpit Theatre in London as part of the Tête à Tête Festival. The play is signed by singer Melinda Hughes, who will also take on the lead role, and composer Jeremy Limb. The text is written by comedian Rich Hall and stage direction is by Daniel Slater.
Set in the year 2027, the opera presents a dystopian scenario in which Russian forces have occupied Ukraine, Hungary and Romania and are moving westward. In this context, Melania is visiting a school when the imminent invasion of Slovenia, her native country, is announced. From that moment on, the protagonist faces an internal conflict between loyalty to her husband and her role as a public figure in the face of a threat to her home country.
