Cincinnati Opera announced that it has been awarded a $1.3 million grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The money will provide funding to commission new operas celebrating the Black American experience.
The grant also includes $500,000 designated to funding the continuation of Opera Fusion: New Works, a workshop program for the development of new opera in partnership with the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
