In a very lively and often surprising reading Italian pianist Marco Sollini plays the complete set of waltzes by Frédéric Chopin. He avoids the great pianistic fireworks, the strong contrasts, and the wide dynamic range. His waltzes are at home in the salon. He phrases with a certain freedom, but without exaggeration, without being caricatural, and his playing is charming, but never sentimental. He undoubtedly has a strong sense of articulation, of transparency of the musical material, he knows how to achieve liveliness even without grand gestures.
