Australian conductor Carlo Antonioli will assume the role of Assistant Conductor Fellow with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for one year, starting this month.
From 2018 to 2019, Antonioli served as assistant conductor of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, Antonioli assisted conductors Vladimir Ashkenazy and Simone Young at the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO).
Graduating in 2017 from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a master’s degree in conducting, he was selected a year later as one of eleven conductors chosen for the TSO’s inaugural Australian Conducting Academy.
A recipient of the Alan Bellhouse Memorial Award for Conducting and the Ada Thompson Prize, Antonioli is also a composer and a member of the Sydney-based Dreambox Collective.
