Brilliant Classics legt eine Platte vor, die sich von den üblichen Pfaden abhebt. Aber das ist nicht das Einzige, was sie auszeichnet. Das Album besticht auch durch die kommunikative Kraft vor allem von Davide Bandieri sowie der übrigen Musiker, die ihn in seinem reinen Weber-Programm begleiten. Bandieri legt einen ungewöhnlichen Enthusiasmus an den Tag, und seine Virtuosität ist ebenso beeindruckend wie seine Atemtechnik.
Wir haben das Klarinettenquintett von Carl Maria von Weber in banalen, akademischen oder geschwätzigen Interpretationen gehört. Selten hat uns das Werk wirklich begeistert. Allzu oft beschränken sich die Streicher auf ihre Begleitrolle und ordnen sich passiv den klanglichen Eskapaden der Klarinette unter. Umso größer ist die Freude über diese neue Veröffentlichung. Davide Bandieri spielt lebendig und gibt die zahlreichen Verzierungen nicht überladen wieder, wie es andere getan haben, sondern bereichert die Musik, ohne ihr einen pathetischen Charakter zu verleihen. Auch das Grand Duo Concertant und die Variationen über ein Thema aus Webers erfolgloser Oper Silvana werden ansprechend dargeboten.
This Brilliant Classics release stands out from the usual paths. But that is not the only thing that distinguishes it. The album also stands out for the communicative power of Davide Bandieri in particular, as well as the other musicians who accompany him in his pure Weber program.
Bandieri displays unusual enthusiasm, and his virtuosity is as impressive as his breathing technique.
We have heard Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Quintet in banal, academic or loquacious interpretations. Rarely has the work truly thrilled us. All too often the strings confine themselves to their accompanying role and passively subordinate themselves to the clarinet’s escapades. All the more reason to be delighted with this new release. Davide Bandieri plays lively and does not overload the numerous ornaments as others have done, but enriches the music without giving it a pathetic character. The Grand Duo Concertant and the variations on a theme from Weber’s unsuccessful opera Silvana are also attractively performed.
