Das 2018 gegründete und in Luzern beheimatete City Light Symphony Orchestra ist ein Projektorchester, das sich entsprechend der benötigten Besetzung zusammensetzt. Es ist auf Filmmusik spezialisiert und präsentiert nun ein Album mit Musik von John Williams, von dessen Filmmusiken es schon jede Menge an Aufnahmen gibt.

Freilich reichen zwei CD’s längst nicht aus, um auch nur die wichtigsten Filmthemen von Williams zu Gehör zu bringen. Hier ist aber (siehe Vorspann) eine besonders interessante Mischung aus bekannten und weniger bekannten Themen gelungen, auch wenn man über die Zusammensetzung natürlich endlos diskutieren könnte.

Eine attraktive Platte zumindest für den, der sich die ganzen Soundtracks der einzelnen Filme nicht anschaffen will und dennoch die eigene Erinnerung an den einen oder anderen Film wachhalten möchte.

Das Orchester unter souveränen Leitung von Kevin Griffiths und hervorragende Solisten tragen wesentlich zum starken Eindruck bei, den diese auch klangtechnisch makellose CD hinterlässt.

Founded in 2018 and based in Lucerne, the City Light Symphony Orchestra is a project orchestra that is in each case composed according to the required instrumentation. It specializes in film music and now presents an album with music by John Williams, of whose film scores there are already plenty of recordings.
Of course, two CDs are by far not enough to present even the most important film themes by Williams. But here (see above) a particularly interesting mixture of well-known and lesser-known themes has been achieved, even if one could of course discuss the composition endlessly.
An attractive release at least for those who don’t want to buy all the soundtracks of the individual films and still want to keep their own memories of one or the other film alive.
The orchestra under the sovereign direction of Kevin Griffiths as well as the soloists contribute significantly to the strong impression left by this CD, which is also flawless in terms of the recorded sound.
