On 12 May the London auctioneers Bonhams will sell an Amati violin, formerly owned by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini. The Cremonese instrument is estimated at £150,000. Mussolini, who was an amateur violinist, owned the instrument during the 1920s and 1930s. Since the end of World War II, the instrument has been owned by several collectors.
