Several artists of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky Theaters in Moscow and St. Petersburg were quarantined for testing positive to coronavirus. This was reported by Russian media.

According to the reports, there is a large number of sick people at the Mariinsky Theatre. Several rehearsals have been cancelled, but the program continues with up to three events per day, even longer operas with intervals.

According to information from sources close to the Bolshoi Theatre, one artist fell ill with COVID-19, which is why 59 people were quarantined. The theatre itself has not yet opened, but there were rehearsals.

Moscow theatres were allowed to resume their activities on August 1, but some of them refused to start work on that date. The Bolshoi is scheduled to reopen in September.
