Gegründet im Jahr 2017 am Volterra Project Summer Guitar Institute, entstand das Trio, das auf diesem Album spielt, « aus einer tiefen Freundschaft und einer gemeinsamen künstlerischen Vision. »
Nun mag die Freundschaft wichtig sein für solch ein Projekt, ohne Musikalität und Inspiration funktioniert nichts. Und die sind hier eindeutig vorhanden.
So vereinen sich auf diesem Album Neues im Original und mehrheitlich Altes in äußerst guten und einfallsreichen Transkriptionen, die musikalisch und narrativ nicht immer dem Original hundertprozentig entsprechen, aber gerade deswegen so interessant sind. Das gilt für die farbige West Side Story-Suite ebenso wie für die atmosphärisch umgebaute Suite Ma mère l’oye.
Created in 2017 at the Volterra Project Summer Guitar Institute, the trio playing on this album was born « out of a deep friendship and a shared artistic vision.
Friendship may be important for a project like this, but nothing works without musicianship and inspiration. And these are clearly present here.
The album combines new original pieces and mostly old ones in extremely good and imaginative transcriptions, which do not always correspond one hundred percent to the original musically and narratively, but which are so interesting for that very reason. This is true for the colorful West Side Story Suite as well as for the atmospherically reworked Ma mère l’oye.
