Decca hat die bedeutendsten Aufnahmen von Cecilia Bartoli in einem Album vereint und erinnert uns daran, welch großartige Sängerin sie war. Die neuen Alcina-Tracks von 2023 zeigen, was die Bartoli mittlerweile an Flexibilität und Souveränität eingebüßt hat.
Aber in den alten Aufnahmen lebt sie die Figuren voll aus. Sie hat eine Körnung, ein Timbre und eine Persönlichkeit, die sie einzigartig machen. Ein weiteres Merkmal ihrer Stimme ist ihre Beweglichkeit. Die Führung der Stimme ist absolut perfekt. Und sie macht auch keine Stil- oder Geschmacksfehler. Ob als Cenerentola in Chaillys Referenzaufnahme,
als deliziöser Cherubino in Abbados Wiener Nozze di Figaro oder der Szene Dorabella-Guglielmo aus Cosi fan tutte mit dem unübertrefflichen Bryn Terfel, in den Bellini- und Donizetti-Arien oder in der vor Freude strahlenden La Danza mit James Levine am Klavier, man ist permanent hingerissen von Bartolis (ehemaliger) großer Kunst.
Decca has collected Cecilia Bartoli’s most important recordings on one album, reminding us what a great singer she was. The new Alcina tracks from 2023 show what Bartoli has lost in flexibility and sovereignty in the meantime.
But in the old recordings she lives the characters to the full. She has a grain, a timbre and a personality that make her unique. Another characteristic of her voice is its agility. The control of her voice is absolutely perfect. And she makes no mistakes in style or taste. Whether as Cenerentola in Chailly’s reference recording, as the delicate Cherubino in Abbado’s Vienna Nozze di Figaro, or the Dorabella-Guglielmo scene from Cosi fan tutte with the unsurpassable Bryn Terfel, in the Bellini and Donizetti arias, or in the joyfully radiant La Danza with James Levine at the piano, one is constantly enraptured by Bartoli’s (former) great art.
