Bad news hit the players of string instruments in Russia. As Russian media reported, the Ministry of Culture will introduce a state fee for the temporary export of violins, violas and cellos. The fee is likely to be fixed at 5000 rubles (70 €), regardless of the instrument’s value.

In exchange of the fee, musicians will receive a certificate that their instruments is cleared to be taken out of the country.

The legislative proposal will also foresee a preferential travel procedure with musical instruments in case the musician has a special passport for the violin and bow.

The second news comes from the Russian airline Aeroflot which announced that in future, string instruments will not be allowed in the cabin of their planes.
