Die Academy of Ancient Music kleidet Bachs ‘Brandenburgische Konzerte’ in ein überaus reiches, von den Bläsern dominiertes Klangbild, das aber zugleich so transparent ist, dass es einen permanenten Dialog zwischen den Instrumenten und Instrumentengruppen hörbar macht. Diese Vielschichtigkeit ist es, die dieses Set auszeichnet und hörenswert macht.

Die Musik ist vital, tanzend, fließend und extrem feingliedrig. Die langsamen Sätze erlangen einen ausdrucksvollen und mitunter melancholischen Charakter.

The Academy of Ancient Music presents Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos in an extremely rich sound, dominated by wind instruments, yet at the same time so transparent that it allows a constant dialogue between the instruments and instrumental groups to be heard. It is this complexity that distinguishes this set and makes it worth listening to.

The music is lively, dancing, flowing, and extremely delicate. The slow movements take on an expressive and sometimes melancholic character.
