Dank Ingo Metzmacher wird diese Lady Macbeth (hier in einer Wiederveröffentlichung) zu einem wirklichen Hörerlebnis. Sieht man von der sensationellen Angela Denoke als Katarina einmal ab, ist die Besetzung nicht unbedingt erstklassig. Kurt Rydl ist über seine beste Zeit heraus und auch Marian Talaba und Misha Didyk besitzen keine Stimmen, die einen nachhaltigen Eindruck hinterlassen. Doch angefeuert von Metzmacher und mitgerissen von Denoke, wächst dieses Ensemble über sich hinaus und nutzt die Gunst der Stunde. Read More →

Maria João Pires, 80, has cancelled concerts in Faro, at was scheduled for June 18th, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro, Braga and Sintra due to a ‘slight stroke’. It is not known if other concerts scheduled for the 22nd in Monaco and the 30th in Den Haag will be cancelled too.
Isaac Karabtchevsky
The Rio de Janeiro based Petrobras Symphony Orchestra has just launched the Maestro Isaac Karabtchevsky Conducting Competition, aimed at Brazilian conductors between the ages of 18 and 45. With entries open until July 4, the competition celebrates the legacy of conductor Isaac Karabtchevsky, who at the age of 90 continues to lead the orchestra as artistic director, and reinforces the group’s vocation for training new talents. Orchestre classique de Montréal has anbnounced the appointment of Canadian-Romanian conductor Andrei Feher (*1991) as Music Director. In 2018, at age 26, Feher was appointed Music Director of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, making him one of the youngest to lead a major Canadian orchestra. His contract as the Music Director was extended until the end of the 2026-27 season but abruptly ended in the fall of 2023 due to the symphony’s bankruptcy. Read More →
The Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (MSO) in Easton, Maryland, honored two major cultural leaders with its 2025 Legacy Awards at a sold-out Gala Dinner The MSO presented its National Legacy Award to Deborah Rutter, former President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, fired by the White House fascist leader, and its annual Legacy Award to Maestro Julien Benichou, former Music Director of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and current Principal Conductor of the Washington Opera Society. With music from five centuries, this year’s Salzburg Whitsun Festival paid homage to the city of Venice and saw a high percentage of 99 percent of seats filled. Approximately 11.720 guests attended the festival. Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the USA, Great Britain, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands and Hungary were the ten most highly represented countries, among a total of 49 nations.
