Asher Fisch

The West Australian Symphony Orchestra has announced that their partnership with Israeli conductor Asher Fisch, 64,  has been extended until the end of 2025, making him the longest serving Principal Conductor in the orchestra’s history.

Asher Fisch forged his connection with the Orchestra from his debut performances of Verdi’s Requiem in 1999 and, following subsequent successful visits to Perth, commenced as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor in 2014.

Fisch’s former posts include Principal Guest Conductor of the Seattle Opera (2007-2013), Music Director of the New Israeli Opera (1998-2008), and Music Director of the Wiener Volksoper (1995-2000).
