Polish conductor Antoni Wit, born February 7, 1944, in Krakow has celebrated his 70th birthday, with two weekend concerts with the Warsaw Philharmonic. The program included Brahms’ ‘Schicksalslied’, Richard Strauss’ ‘Alpensinfonie’ and Karol Szymanowski’s ‘Stabat Mater’. Wit served as Managing and Artistic Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic from 2002 to 2013. Currently he is Music Director of the ‘Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra ‘in Pamplona. Wit’s discography includes more than 200 records, many of which have received awards, and he is one of the world’s few artists to have sold his records in nearly five million copies.
