Italian conductor Andrea Sanguineti has good chances to become General Music Director in Essen, the newspaper WAZ reports. He would be the successor of Tomas Netopil.
Andrea Sanguineti studied piano and composition at the Conservatory in Genoa, followed by studies of conducting at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. At the latter he graduated as one of the youngest students ever at the age of 23 years. He continued his studies with Umberto Finazzi, specializing in dramatic repertoire and was consequently engaged as répétiteur at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg. He conducted numerous productions in various opera houses.
