The Prize winners of the Queen Sonja Singing Competition have been announced. Kathleen O’Mara, (soprano, USA) won 1st Prize (EUR 50.000) after the grand finale of the Queen Sonja Singing Competition 2025 in Oslo, Norway.
Kathleen O’Mara is currently a member of LA Opera’s Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program and is a 2024 recipient of the Sara Tucker Study Grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.
She won a Career Grant Award from the Sullivan Foundation in 2023 she was a 2022 winner of the Bizet Award at the Orpheus Vocal Competition.
2nd Prize (EUR 10.000) was awarded to: Meridian Prall (mezzo-soprano, USA).
3rd Prize (EUR 5.000) was awarded to: Pawel Horodyski (bass, Poland).
Three finalist Prizes (EUR 1.500 each) were awarded to: Vladyslav Buialskyi (baritone, Ukraine) Hannah Edmunds (soprano, Norway), Justyna Khil (soprano, Poland)
The Ingrid Bjoner scholarship (NOK 100.000) was awarded to Hannah Edmunds (soprano, Norway).
500 singers from 57 nations applied to participate, 40 singers were selected for the preliminary rounds, 12 singers from 7 nations advanced to the semi-finals.
