Alexander Pereira, the new Sovrintendente of the Maggio Musicale in Florence, has big plans and he wants to give the theatre a bigger importance. As a press conference in Florence Pereira said that he will try to increase the audience, especially the international audience, with a program that also attracts tourists.
His dream is to bring Riccardo Muti back to Florence and to have Zubin Mehta conducting several productions too. As for the successor to Music Director Fabio Luisi, who resigned last July, he said it would take him a year to come up with ‘the right man’.
