Before even having taken up his job, Alexander Pereira, the designated General Manager of Milan’s La Scala, has risen a discussion when news from Austria revealed that he, as Salzburg Festival’s current director, was selling seven of its productions to his new Milan opera house (Pizzicato.lu/pereira-verkauft-sich-was). In the meantime Pereira told journalists that he only choose the best productions and that Salzburg’s price was really good. Nevertheless the feeling remains that Pereira was not very clever in proposing this deal, especially as it helps Salzburg’s finances to getting back in the surplus region.
