The Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel announces the expansion of its activities to the Domaine d’Argenteuil in Waterloo (Belgium) to create a new enlarged campus. The Périer-D’Ieteren family has reached an agreement with the heirs of Jean-Marie Delwart to acquire the Domaine d’Argenteuil, with a view to making the estate available to the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, whose historic site is directly connected to it on the neighboring land.
For the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, this project is a decisive step in its development. With its 136 hectares of nature, much of which is classified as Natura 2000, the Domaine d’Argenteuil is an exceptional natural site located on the edge of the Sonian Forest. It will enable the Musical Chapel to offer its 70 artists in residence from all over the world an even greater concentration, « far from the hustle and bustle of the city, » in accordance with Queen Elisabeth’s original vision.
Access to the Domaine d’Argenteuil will enable the Chapelle Musicale to double its accommodation capacity for artists in residence, strengthen its training offer, and further extend its international reach.

The Domaine d’Argenteuil will also increase the living space for artists in residence; intensify the offer of masterclasses, courses, and collaborations; and strengthen interdisciplinarity between the six existing sections (violin, piano, cello, voice, viola, and chamber music).
It will also make it possible to consider new projects that are currently difficult to undertake due to lack of space: hosting composers in residence and other artistic disciplines such as dance or writing, scientific research on the impact of music, contributing to peace and the necessary change in perspective on life. It will also contribute to better working conditions for the Chapelle Musicale team.
