After its premiere on November 13, 2020, without an audience due to Covid, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris (OCP) is performing again Bechara El-Khoury’s seventh symphonic poem, ‘Il fait novembre en mon âme’ to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the 2015 attacks.

The performance will take place during the concert Fluctuat nec mergitur given by the OCP at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris on November 13 and dedicated to the victims of the Paris attacks from 2015.

Commissioned by the parents of a victim, with the support of Fondation de France, this symphonic poem honors the memory of the victims while leaving everyone free to interpret the story, the composer says.

There are two key moments: an energetic and contrasting opening, which gives way to a gentle, steady tempo, into which a wordless soprano voice slips, like a prayer and a consolation at the same time. « If art cannot save the world, it can save minds, fragments of humanity, and so we move forward in small steps, » explains El-Khoury.
