The musicians of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra began a strike on Thursday afternoon. Several upcoming performances have been cancelled.

The orchestra’s union, Vancouver Musicians’ Association Local 145, began contract negotiations with the Vancouver Symphony Society back in March, but no agreement was reached. The contract expired on July 1.
