Andrea Battistoni

The Board of Opera Australia announced the appointment of three key leadership positions with Music Director Andrea Battistoni, Chair of the Board Glyn Davis and Chief Executive Officer Alex Budd.

Commencing in January 2026, Italian conductor and composer Andrea Battistoni will oversee all musical aspects of productions.

First attracting international attention at the Verdi Festival in 2010, Battistoni became the youngest conductor to perform at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan in 2012 at only 24 years of age. He is Music Director of

Teatro Regio di Torino, Chief Conductor of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, and Composer in Residence for Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège.
