With a grant of more than £174,000 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Buxton Opera House now has a total of £190,000 to embark on an ambitious restoration project for its beautiful Edwardian theater. Buxton is a city located south of Manchester and north of Birmingham.
« This significant funding, made possible by National Lottery players, is a crucial first step in preparing the ground for a major capital project that will make the grade II listed theatre fully fit for purpose in the 21st century, » the venue said in a statement.
The grant will support conservation statements, structural and building condition surveys, and analysis of the findings for improvements of audience and technical facilities.
