The Oslo Philharmonic begin this year’s European tour on 17 January in Hamburg. On 20 January Queen Sonja joins them in Paris for the first time. Queen Sonja has been the Oslo Philharmonic’s patron for many years and has attended numerous concerts in Norway, but has never before accompanied the orchestra abroad.

Today, the Taki Alsop Conducting Fellowship (TACF) announced that Taiwanese conductor Chi-Yuan Lin has been chosen as the 2026–28 TACF Fellow. In a competitive cycle with nearly 150 applicants representing 41 nationalities, the TACF also named Michelle Di Russo as Associate Fellow, and Joséphine Korda, Polina Lebedieva, Ziwei Ma, and Molly Turner as Award Recipients. American Conductor Alan Gilbert, 58, has renewed his contract as Music Director of the Royal Swedish Opera (RSO) until the end of 2029, with possibility of further extension.
