Following an initial digital pre-selection based on video submissions, 467 talented singers have been invited to the second round, the Live Auditions. Maltese conductor Aurelio Belli passed away at the age of 49. Belli was a brass player and developed his skills across various instruments. He was actively involved in a number of musical ensembles. He was also a conductor and cultural manager 2020, Belli was diagnosed with lung cancer. He spoke about his treatment publicly in the years that followed, saying he wanted to raise awareness and offer some comfort to others in the same position.

In a video posted on social media, Finnish violinist, conductor, and composer Pekka Kuusisto announced that stopped working in the United States. He says that the Trump administration’s current policies and the fact that non-resident artists are subject to a 30% federal withholding tax on their US income are the reasons for his decision. This means that money from donors and patrons could be used to fund government initiatives he does not approve of (war, ICE, etc.).
