Beginning in 2016, Portland Opera (Oregon, USA) will perform its entire season in a compressed, 12-week and festival-style summer period. This move should save the company some $500,000, about 8 percent of its budget, allowing the management to stabilize the company’s finances. The plan is to produce four or five operas per summer season.
