After 24 years of successful activities, the French chamber music festival Consonances in Saint-Nazaire is forced to close down after losing the entire funding from the city. Despite the fact that the City Council’s tourist managers proudly announce on their website that « cultural life in Saint-Nazaire has considerably developed over the last 10 years or so », the mayor and his team have cut the 150.000 Euros they gave they festival until now.

Under the direction of violinist Philippe Graffin, the chamber music festival Consonances had become a must for music lovers from Saint-Nazaire and far beyond. Every year during one week in September, some of the greatest chamber musicians of the international scene came and played in Saint-Nazaire.
