Two groups compete for a revival of the bankrupt New York City Opera and bid between $1,25 and 1,5 million to save NYCO. Amid speculations about the possible winner, one of the competitors ran into a problem since the name used for the bid in court belongs to another small New York opera company: Opera New York. Even though this may be settled soon, the truth is that the NYCO responsible seem to prefer not the company run by Gene Kaufman, an architect, who offers $1.5 million to buy the name and assets of City Opera, but rather the second group, called NYCO Renaissance, which bids only $1.25 million.
