An independent evaluation of Arts Council England and its operations, chaired by Margaret Hodge, did not find much positive about the existing subsidy model. The report criticizes the current Let’s Create strategy and called for a total reform of application and reporting processes.
The panel of experts have made a series of 21 recommendations to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the most important being that “the government can and must find innovative ways of responding urgently to the underfunding that has undermined the arts over the last decade”.
