The Teatro del Maggio Musicale in Florence has announced that the dance program Pas de deux for toes and fingers with Svetlana Zakharova and her violinist husband Vadim Repin, has been suspended. The dates, announced months ago as part of the 2026 season, on 20 and 21 January 2026, have been more than suspended, they are cancelled since the box office is issuing refunds to all who have booked.

Zakharova is known for being a Putin confidante, a former deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation as member of the United Russia party and member of the Presidential Council for Culture and Art.

Since January 2023, she has been under Ukrainian sanctions for supporting Russian aggression.
