Dieses Album beginnt mit einer sehr charakteristischen Interpretation von Schuberts 1817 komponierter Ouvertüre im italienischen Still. Peter Maag baut zunächst mit der langsamen Einleitung viel Spannung auf und zieht dann den im Rossini-Stil gehaltenen schnellen Teil nicht linear durch, sondern steigert ihn unaufhaltsam und lässt die Holzbläser üppig klingen.

In den Symphonien bevorzugt Peter Maag einen vollen, warmen und kräftig konturierten Klang. So kommen die Farbpalette und der Nuancenreichstem der Kompositionen gut zur Geltung.

Der Klang der Aufnahme ist transparent, aber insgesamt etwas matt.

This album opens with a highly distinctive interpretation of Schubert’s Italian Overture, which was composed in 1817. Peter Maag first builds up a great deal of tension with the slow introduction, and then, rather than playing the fast section in a linear fashion, he allows it to build inexorably, giving the woodwinds a lush sound.

In the symphonies, Peter Maag prefers a full, warm, and powerfully contoured sound. This brings out the color palette and the rich nuances of the compositions to great effect.

The sound of the recording is transparent, but somewhat dull overall.
