‘In 17 Weihnachtsliedern um die Welt’ verspricht das Programm dieses Weihnachtsalbums von Berlin Philharmonic Brass, einem Dutzend Musiker der Berliner Philharmoniker. Das Album enthält bekannte und weniger bekannte Weihnachtshits, die von Joshua Davis bearbeitet wurden. Der australische Posaunist war in Sydney als Kammermusiker sowie im Aufnahmestudio tätig. 2006 gewann Davis den Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize beim Melbourne International Festival of Brass.
Seit seiner Ernennung zum Soloposaunisten des West Australian Symphony Orchestra ist Davis als Lehrer, Arrangeur und Komponist für das WASO, das Blechbläserensemble der Berliner Philharmoniker und die President’s Own Marine Band tätig.
Seine kunstfertigen Arrangements erfreuen auf diesem Album das Ohr und bieten instrumentale Weihnachtsmelodien für alle, die ohne Gesang auskommen möchten. Wie immer bei m Berlin Philharmonic Brass ist höchstes musikalisches Können nur Voraussetzung für künstlerisch sehr anspruchsvolle Unterhaltungsmusik, in der Musiker die Freude, die sie selbst beim Spielen haben, hundertprozentig vermitteln können.
‘Around the world in 17 Christmas songs’ is the promise of this Christmas album by Berlin Philharmonic Brass, a dozen musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. The album features well-known and lesser-known Christmas hits arranged by Joshua Davis. The Australian trombonist worked in Sydney as a chamber musician and in the recording studio. In 2006, Davis won the Barry Tuckwell Brass Prize at the Melbourne International Festival of Brass.
Since his appointment as principal trombonist of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, Davis has worked as a teacher, arranger, and composer for the WASO, the brass ensemble of the Berlin Philharmonic, and the President’s Own Marine Band.
His skillful arrangements delight the ear on this album and offer instrumental Christmas melodies for those who prefer music without vocals. As always with m Berlin Philharmonic Brass, the highest level of musical skill is only a prerequisite for artistically sophisticated light music, in which musicians can convey 100% of the joy they themselves experience while playing.
