The mayor of La Plata, Julio Alak, welcomed the conductor Leonardo García Alarcón to the Hall of Agreements at the Municipal Palace. During the meeting, the artist was honored with the title of Guest of Honor, highlighting his contribution to classical music and his connection to the city.
« Leonardo García Alarcón is not only an enormously talented native of La Plata who has made his mark on the world, he is also an ambassador for our culture. His effort and dedication to art are a source of pride for all of us in La Plata, and his international recognition is a reflection of the potential that this capital city brings to the world, » said the mayor.
Leonardo García Alarcón, born in La Plata on August 5, 1976, has achieved international renown for his innovative interpretations and is currently considered one of the most brilliant conductors of his generation.
In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) as Artist of the Year, a recognition that places him among the greatest contemporary musicians.
