Kennedy Center, Washington

The Kennedy Center in Washington, now renamed to the sitting president is obviously in a turmoil. New reports say, a major dance company and a jazz ensemble cancelled their dates.

The New York Times reported on Monday that the New York dance company Doug Varone and Dancers cancelled its two performances scheduled for April.

A jazz ensemble called The Cookers also cancelled its New Year’s Eve date, according to The Times.

Kristy Lee, a folk singer-songwriter who was slated to perform on January 14, also canceled her show due to the name change. “When American history starts getting treated like something you can ban, erase, rename, or rebrand for somebody else’s ego, I can’t stand on that stage and sleep right at night,” she said last week in a social media post.

Moreover, the audience is avoiding the place, and many performers play before big numbers of empty seats.
