Francisco Coll

Teatro Real in Madrid has announced that composer Francisco Coll, 40, will not be able to conduct his opera Enemigo del pueblo in February. He suffered a minor transient ischemic attack (considered as the sign of an impending stroke).

Coll said: « I am deeply saddened not to be able to lead this production as planned and I am immensely grateful for the understanding and support of the entire team at the Teatro Real. I am grateful to Christian Karlsen, who has generously agreed to conduct in my place, and I wish him, the musicians, and the cast all the best for the performances. I would like to mention that I am recovering well and hope to return to the podium once my recovery is complete.”
