The death was announced of British pianist Jonathan Powell. He died on 27 December 2025 in Brighton. Powel, born in 1969, made his performing debut at the age of 20 in the Purcell Room in London.

Over the next ten years, he concentrated on composing works that were then interpreted by the Arditti Quartet, the London Sinfonietta and Nicolas Hodges. He also graduated in musicology with a thesis exploring Scriabin’s influence on music. Subsequently, he studied under Sulamita Aronovsky, performed in various countries and recorded several CDs. His repertoire ranged from Bach to contemporary works.
