Alexey Shors Cellokonzert Nr. 2 stammt aus dem Jahre 2021. Es hat zwei leichte und charmante Ecksätze à la Haydn, einen melancholisch-lyrischen Mittelsatz und ist ein überaus gefälliges und brillant virtuoses Stück, das vom armenischen Cellisten Narek Hakhnazaryan inspiriert und technisch großartig gespielt wird.
Das ein Jahr später entstandene 3. Cellokonzert ist weitgehend nach klassischen Mustern gestrickt, elegant und tänzerisch im ersten, sehr lyrisch und emotional im zweiten Satz, einer Elegie. Das Finale ist wiederum sehr tänzerisch und beschwingt. Das Konzert gibt dem Solisten viel Material, um zu glänzen.
Mit der Humoreske hat Shor ein lustiges und durchtriebenes Stück geschrieben, das in dieser Aufnahme ganz toll zur Wirkung gebracht wird.
Die beiden Stück For my Kids sind von zärtlich-verliebtem Ausdruck und beschließen das Programm herzerwärmend.
Alexey Shor’s Cello Concerto No. 2 was composed in 2021. It has two light and charming outer movements in the style of Haydn, and a melancholic, lyrical middle movement. It is an extremely pleasing and brilliantly virtuosic piece, played with inspiration and technical brilliance by the Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan. Written a year later, the Third Cello Concerto largely follows classical patterns. The first movement is elegant and dance-like, while the second movement is an elegy, very lyrical and emotional. The finale is once again very dance-like and lively. The concerto provides the soloist with ample opportunity to shine.
With Humoresque, Shor has written a funny and mischievous piece that is brought to life wonderfully in this recording.
The two pieces For My Kids are tenderly romantic and bring the program to a heartwarming conclusion.
