Tomoko Masur and Mayor Tom Roach cut the ribbon

A road in White Plains, NY, has been called after the late German conductor Kurt Masur. The Masur family owned a house there, since their son, Ken-David, attended the German Language School in White Plains.

Tomoko Masur, wife of Kurt Masur, and White Plains Mayor Tom Roach cut the ribbon on Masur Drive last Monday, 6 June.

After the ceremony, Mrs. Masur, accompanied by her son Ken-David Masur, and daughter-in-law Melinda Lee Masur joined the Administration, members of the Board of Trustees, and students from the German International School at a reception that paid tribute to the many contributions the Masur family has made to GIS and to the community of Westchester County. Mayor Roach officially proclaimed June 6th to be Masur Family Day.

The Masurs owned another house in Harrison, only 10 miles away from White Plains, where they have lived since 1992.
