Kind of a propagandistic concert will be performed tonight in the ruins of Palmyra in Syria. Russian agency TASS reports that the Mariinsky Orchestra under Valery Gergiev is to give a concert titled Prayer for Palmyra: Music Revives Ancient Walls at the famous ancient amphitheatre.

The Palmyra monuments are part of the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. The city was liberated by the Syrian army a month ago. While being controlled by ISIS militias, the city has been badly damaged, and a great number of monuments have been ruined.

As it was reported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation, Russian field engineers have completed the clearing operation in the historical part of the ancient city. Experts suppose, that about 70-80% of the monuments can be recovered but the process might take from 3 to 5 years.
